Verbo to have

El verbo irregular to have puede funcionar como verbo principal o como verbo auxiliar. Se usa para indicar la posesión. Para conjugarlo, hay que sustituir la terminación –ve por –s en 3ª persona del singular. De forma coloquial, cuando se indica la posesión de algo, se usa la partícula got detrás del verbo, aunque se puede omitir en todos los casos:

We	have	(got)	Nosotros tenemos	We’ve got

• I have got a son and a daughter. [Tengo un hijo y una hija].

La forma negativa se construye con el auxiliar don’t/doesn’t, es decir, como un verbo ordinario (I don’t have, he doesn’t have…). Sin embargo, cuando se incluye la partícula got, la conjugación de este verbo se hace así:

• We don’t have / We have not got any pets. [Nosotros no tenemos mascotas].
• They don’t have / They’ve not got / They haven’t got that T-shirt. [Ellos no tienen esa camiseta].

La forma interrogativa del verbo to have se construye normalmente como la de cualquier verbo ordinario, es decir, usando el auxiliar do (do you have, does she have…). No obstante, si se incluye la partícula got, la forma de conjugar este verbo es la siguiente:

Have	I	got?	¿Tengo?
Have	you	got?	¿Tienes?
Has	he she it	got?	¿Tiene?
Have	we	got?	¿Tenemos?
Have	you	got?	¿Tenéis?
Have	they	got?	¿Tienen?
